Meet Our New Neighbors!

Meet Sacha and Paul Whitmore, residents of Carnes Crossroads since November 2014. Originally from Jamaica, and then Florida, the young couple moved to Seattle eight years ago when Paul took a job with Boeing. Despite enjoying the outdoor lifestyle and adventure of living on the west coast, they jumped at the chance to relocate closer to family back east once Boeing opened its operations in Charleston.
Working with their Realtor, they set out to find a place to live that would offer the same outdoor lifestyle and community feel they enjoyed in Seattle for their growing family, which includes their son, 21 month year-old Avery. On their first visit to Carnes Crossroads and Model Row, they knew they had found their new home.
“Once we visited, we knew this was it,” says Sacha. “We didn’t look anywhere else. You get a feeling of community as soon as you tour the neighborhood. People are very friendly and everyone makes an effort to get to know one another. And it’s very family-friendly”
The existing and planned conveniences and amenities at Carnes Crossroads were another big draw.
“We love the kid-friendly pool, the walking trails, the green spaces,” says Paul, who enjoys running and all kinds of outdoor activities.
“And it’s good to know that conveniences will be added, like the new pediatricians’ office, shops, restaurants and even a school. We’re particularly interested in the summer Farmers’ Market at the Green Barn as it fits with our farm to table lifestyle,” Sacha added.
The Whitmores chose a plan from Eastwood Homes, and despite living 3,000 miles away, found the building process to go smoothly.
“Between Eastwood, our Realtor and the sales team at Carnes Crossroads Real Estate, the building process was basically seamless,” says Paul.
Since moving in, Paul and Sacha have enjoyed getting to know their neighbors at the pool, in the parks and at the monthly “First Friday” resident mixers. But perhaps what has meant the most to them so far is watching their son make his first new friends within their family-friendly community.
“When I think of Avery growing up here it makes my heart smile,” says Sacha with a big grin.
