Meet the Final Top Dog of 2017

January 15th, 2018

We are pleased to introduce you to the fourth quarter top dog of Carnes Crossroads, Harvey! Harvey is a spunky two year-old Boykin Spaniel who loves living at Carnes. He won many hearts over with his adorable snow day picture. We spoke with Harvey’s owners to learn more about our new top dog.

How did Harvey come to join your family?
We had both done a lot of research and knew that we wanted a Boykin Spaniel. We knew his size, ability to learn and desire to love on his human companion would make a great dog for our family. So we came across a breeder not more than three miles from Carnes and when we picked Harvey he was the biggest puppy out of the litter.

When did Harvey come to be a dog of Carnes Crossroads?
July 2015

What are some of Harvey’s favorite ways to spend time at Carnes Crossroads?
You’ll often find Harvey walking through the neighborhood with us carrying his favorite toy, a tennis ball. He loves the dog park and walking the trails and sniffing out all of the scents left from birds and other dogs.

What do you like about having a dog at Carnes Crossroads?
We really enjoy taking Harvey on walks on the trails by the lakes and cannot wait for more trails to be developed!

What is Harvey’s favorite treat, toy or game?

A tennis ball is his favorite, we’re often woke up from a nap by Harvey nudging us with one of his tennis balls in his mouth and waiting for us to toss it.

Tell us more about your photo submission.

Well we captured the photo during the Charleston 2018 “snowpocalypse.” It was Harvey’s first time seeing snow and he loved it. He stood by our backdoor crying at times because he wanted to run and play in the snow.

What’s the best tip you can give to others about taking great pictures of their dogs?
Capture a photo of your dog at his/her best and what they enjoy doing best.

How will Harvey celebrate being selected this season’s Top Dog of Carnes Crossroads?
He will probably bark with our neighboring dog, Murray, about how many likes they each got on social media – they both were selected for Top Dog of Carnes Crossroads last year!

That’s a wrap on the 2017 Top Dog of Carnes Crossroads Photo Contest! Thank you to everyone who has submitted shots of their furry friends throughout the year. We have loved seeing all of your dogs living their best life at Carnes!
