Spend July 4th In Summerville This Year!

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself spending July 4th in Summerville this year, you’ll want to be sure to check out Summerville’s Red, White and Blue on the Green event in Gahagan Park. It’s the town’s annual old-fashioned Independence Day celebration, with musical entertainment, games, children’s activities, jump castles, food vendors, a contest for the best patriotic garb and more. A non-motorized parade will feature decorated bicycles and wagons, and families parading around the park. The fun concludes with a fireworks display held shortly after dusk.

If your plans include venturing into other areas of Charleston for your July 4th celebrations, you have a lot of other choices as well:

• The biggest display of fireworks in Charleston is traditionally over Charleston Harbor. Watch them from Waterfront Park or along the Battery in downtown Charleston, or book a dinner or cocktail cruise on one of the charter boats that cruises the Harbor. You can also view them from Patriot’s Point or the pier and Waterfront Park in Mt. Pleasant and enjoy live music, food, beverages, activities for kids and more.

• You can’t beat spending July 4th at the beach. Folly Beach and the Isle of Palms will have fireworks displays. You’ll have a good seat pretty much anywhere along the beaches, but expect more crowds as you get closer to the actual display (from the pier at the Isle of Palms, from the County Park on Folly Beach).

• The City of North Charleston holds its annual 4th of July Festival at Riverfront Park starting at 3 pm. This year’s event features musical guests, children activities, food trucks, craft vendors, a laser light show and a spectacular 4th of July fireworks show.
